Dingle Dance

This is a dance for 8 people.

Small intro

start on beat 8 – 2 steps on spot, 2 forward and turn backwards on 4, keep moving backwards.
7 & 2 clash as they meet, then 5 &2, 7&4, and then 3 & 2, 5 & 4, 7& 6 etc. until all in place. 1 and 8 only get one clash.

CHORUS Same as dance on in reverse, the lines dance off, turning on 4, and 4 steps backwards, 2 steps on spot, 2 forward for 7&2 to meet, clashing along the line as before until all in place.
LINES ACROSS 4 steps across the set, turn on 4th to the left. 4 steps along side, turn on 4th, 4 steps across to original side, turn on 4th, and 4 steps back to place.
CHORUS
CIRCLES & STICKING

Dancers 1, 2, 7, and 8 circle around set 16 steps. 4 steps along each side and across each end, alternately crossing right and then left shoulders as they meet.

Meanwhile:
3 and 4 stick 4 times, 5 and 6 do the same.
3 and 5 stick 4 times, 4 and 6 do the same.
Then, still facing the same way, dance around their little square, crossing right shoulders always.
2 steps to each side of their square.
CHORUS
TRIANGLES 1 and 4, 5 and 8 swap places, 4 steps.
Then 2 and 3, 6 and 7 swap places, 4 steps.
Everybody change place on the side, 4 steps.
Everybody cross over back to original place, 4 steps.
CHORUS
DOUBLE STAR 3, 4, 5 and 6 form a right star (2 steps) and dance half way round (2 steps) clockwise.
Whilst 1, 2, 7 and 8 dance a small circle out from the set and come in to link up with star (4 steps).
2 will meet 5, 7 will meet 4, 1 will meet 6, 8 will meet 3.
Circle round for a further 8 steps, everybody turn and form left star, dance back for 8 steps. 1, 2, 7, and 8 break from star, 4 steps back to their places, while 3, 4, 5, and 6 continue star back to their place.
FINAL CHORUS Repeat 1½ times, and dance off,
